Why a dog park?

We’ve got lots of reasons. Here are a few:

Our community asked for one.

This amenity was highly requested in the MRV Community Wellbeing Survey as well as part of the Mad River Path’s recent efforts to reduce dog waste and off-leash behavior on trails.

Most dog owners surveyed said they would use a dog park if one existed in the MRV.  The closest dog parks are a 45-minute drive from Warren.

We’re dog people.

As the Mad River Valley has historically been known as a dog friendly area, the park will create a welcoming space for dogs as well as a “hub” for dog-related activities.

It’s good for our health.

Post-Covid, accessible outdoor spaces are vital to the physical and mental health of humans.  The dog park will provide a new kind of gathering place for people to play outdoors with friends, neighbors and other like-minded dog lovers. As interaction with other dogs is essential to canine mental health, the park will help make happier, better-behaved pets.
